a little history about me |

Well, when I was attending high school at Casa Roble, I found that photography was a great way to express my creative side. This also taught me to pay close attention to the world around me. My teacher, Alan Thorner, emphasized to try to look at the world as no one else would; as well as to find the un-ordinary in the ordinary. Anyway's, my first real experience in building a web page was also in high school. In a networking class, we had to build a site that listed and described all the key components in a computer. I can't say the site was well designed or anything, but it taught me the fundamentals of HTML as well as how a computer works. Up until I attended the Institute of Technology my web sites have been plain and boring. I had no idea the power that Photoshop could bring to the table.
While attending The Institute of Technology, I learned a great deal about design concepts, not just for the web, but for print as well. We went over layout, colors, typography, and contrast. I was also made aware of all sorts of different programs. From vector based to 3D; from video editing, to raster based programs. I learned a great deal more about HTML. Before IT I was unaware of the potential that tables could provide for a web layout. Before tables I used frames. Nothing against frames but they lack the feel that tables have. We also touched a bit on Java script.

Since my graduation from IT, I've been searching for a steady career in the design field. My work in the web design area have improved a great deal since I graduated IT. I've been getting more creative in my designs. I feel that any good web site should have a clean, simple and attractive interface. I really enjoy designing a site, then cutting it up, and seeing it come to life on the web. Each page has it own look and feel, I would even say each page has it's own personality. Lately I've been looking into other languages that are compatible for the web. I recently added CSS to this site, and I see it as the first step towards greater knowledge of not only coding but design and functionality.
I feel that my strengths in print design would be an asset for any employer looking to hire an entry level designer. I strive to get a professional look while trying to capture attention in my work. I feel that I have a firm grip of the many different concepts that produce great looking designs. I've worked on business cards, flyers, post cards, letter heads, brochures, and CD inlays. As you can see I have a wide range of print experience. I have done this with using a range of different programs. Vector based ones for logos or scalable images, to raster based for a layout. I have even used a 3D program to get that unique look in a few of my designs. If you would like to see some of my work please visit my portfolio . |
